Friends Nikki, Hannah and Christy are photographers in the Shenandoah Valley who love doing business and life together. Most importantly, all three ladies love  the Shenandoah Valley, and feel so lucky to be able to photograph gorgeous couples in the mountains. They felt so passionately about this that they decided to start Ridge & Valley Weddings - a wedding collective whose mission is to bring more couples to the Shenandoah Valley to get married in the gorgeous mountains. The cozy atmosphere of mountain life lends itself perfectly to elopements and intimate weddings - which is exactly why Ridge & Valley was born.

The truth is, we understand how stressful wedding planning can be, and we also understand that not everyone wants a big wedding. We exist to bring a high-end experience to intimate weddings and elopements. Ridge & Valley brings together some of the best vendors in the Valley to create the perfect day for you to marry you partner.

Meet Christy

Christy has lived in the Shenandoah Valley since 2002. She had previously lived in several different states and traveled abroad throughout her life but plans to call the Valley her forever home! In her spare time she enjoys hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway, exploring the small towns of Virginia, or visiting local wineries. Christy began her photography education while traveling abroad in college and began her photography business in 2011. Christy was married under an oak tree at a small bed and breakfast with less than 40 guests. Since then she has had a special place in her heart for small, intimate weddings. Christy’s photography style can best be described as rich in color and emotional in content. She loves to capture real life moments that happen naturally and finds that smaller, more intimate weddings lend themselves to this style of photography. While Christy would describe herself as shy, she loves being around other people instead of being home alone. Working with two other creative minds is an ideal situation for Christy as she can be even more creative than while working alone. One of her favorite ways to add creativity to a wedding day is to shoot film, something she doesn’t do when shooting a wedding solo! She also loves taking the time to find unique locations for a more fine art look to portraits.

Meet Hannah

Hannah came to the Valley for college (Go JMU Dukes!) and stayed for the mountains. Growing up on the beaches of Southern Maryland, Hannah has always been drawn to gorgeous scenery and beautiful landscapes. After traveling all over the state + beyond, she is certain that the Valley has the best views to offer. After getting a camera for her birthday many years ago, Hannah started shooting portraits of her friends and family. This led to her assisting with weddings, and the rest is history. For the past 6 years, Hannah has served couples all over the East Coast, but specifically has a heart for those getting married in the Shenandoah Valley. Even though she is not married yet, she still loves helping couples dream about their wedding and capture it in a unique and authentic way. She loves working in a team and getting to incorporate film throughout the day. When Hannah isn’t photographing people in love, she is most likely chasing her dog around the house or eating at a local restaurant with her friends and family. She enjoys running her businesses and spending copious hours in local coffee shops getting lost in the latest thriller novel. Hannah loves this community, and is so excited to photograph all the local weddings with the help of the Ridge & Valley Team!

Meet Nikki

Nikki grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and only left briefly for her college years. After graduating from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) Nikki returned to the valley and married her high school sweetheart on a mountaintop in an intimate wedding with only her 13 closest family members in attendance. Nikki photographed her first wedding in 2013 and was instantly hooked. She expanded to video in 2017 and loves the way cinema captures of whole host of emotions and interactions that photos just cannot. She loves joyful, emotive weddings and is especially drawn to small, intimate events reminiscent of her own wedding day. Nikki loves spending time in the mountains and is always up for an adventure. She loves working with a team of trusted friends and finds herself more inspired and creative when she knows she can count on those around her for a well executed and fun wedding day. When she’s not working, Nikki loves traveling with her husband and three sons, hiking in the Shenandoah National Park, camping, and enjoying great food and wine.
